Dear Rodnick Colloquium presenters:

Thank you for participating in the 2025 Rodnick Colloquium.

As part of our work in the “Advancing Anti-Racism in Research Methods” working group, a group of FCM Research Community members, including faculty, staff, and trainees, have developed a set of guidelines around incorporating an anti-racist lens into our research, with a focus on the inclusion of race and ethnicity in research dissemination. These are standards that we have committed to implementing across the Department of Family & Community Medicine. This is by no means a complete list of considerations – instead, we see these guidelines as a launching point upon which to practice self-interrogation around the inclusion of race and ethnicity in research. While the questions on this survey relate to the guidelines for current research, these are considerations throughout the research lifecycle.

While these guidelines were created for the specific purpose of research reporting, they have broad applicability and, as such, we are requiring that all submitting authors read through the guidelines outlined below and consider how they may apply to the abstract they are submitting to Rodnick, as well as the final presentation or poster. We have also created this Qualtrics survey to aid presenters in self-evaluating their submissions. This survey will be required for accepted authors, but optional (and highly recommended) for all authors during this initial submission phase. We have also included a list of great resources, such as literature and other best practices, some of which has informed our working group’s process and these guidelines. We recommend reviewing that material, too.

Thank you for your support in this effort. We welcome feedback and suggestions about how this survey could be modified or improved. If you have questions, concerns, etc., especially about how these guidelines intersect with your work, please contact Sarah Wulf (sarah.wulf@ucsf.edu), the contact for the FCM Advancing Anti-Racism in Research Methods working group.

Thank you!
