Introduction
The Memory and Aging Center at UCSF is conducting a research study on healthy aging. With this goal in mind, we are establishing a cohort of cognitively normal, healthy volunteers who are interested in helping us learn more about the brain. The information collected will help us better understand the processes and mechanisms of aging.
Participation in this study requires an a
nnual visit to our center which includes:
Fasting blood draw, Cognitive testing (memory/thinking tasks, paper and pencil tasks, etc.),
Neurological exam (with a qualified clinician),
Study partner interview (with someone who has known you for at least 5 years). Please note, exact needs from each participant may vary by age bracket and current project needs.
Once enrolled in the Brain Aging Network for Cognitive Health (BRANCH), you would then have the opportunity to participate in additional subprojects associated with the Healthy Aging Study. These projects could involve more cognitive testing, eye movement tracking, brain imaging techniques such as MRI or PET, and biomarker studies involving more blood draws or lumbar punctures. All of these studies are optional. Most of our study visits occur in-person, at the Sandler Neurosciences Building at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus.
This information will be used only for research purposes. All of your responses will be kept confidential and used only to further understand brain aging. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide monetary compensation for participation and we do not provide feedback regarding results unless clinical follow-up is required. If you are interested, please complete the following screening form. Some of the questions in the screen may be of a personal and sensitive nature, including information about your past medical history. You may choose not to answer any of the questions or to stop at any time.
Thank you very much for your time and interest!
