UCSF POPULATION HEALTH AND HEALTH EQUITY SCHOLARS APPLICATION FORM FOR FUNDING YEAR 2023
 
Created to support junior faculty at the assistant professor level, the UCSF Population Health and Health Equity Scholars (PHHE) award will provide flexible funding to accelerate and increase the impact of population health and/or health equity research or program evaluation. Each scholar will receive $20,000 in support.
 
The award is designed to:
  • Supplement resources for existing initiatives and/or 
  • Support efforts to collect preliminary data that could lead to future funding proposals
PROPOSAL CONTENT:
 
Proposals must address and will be evaluated on:
  1. How the proposed work relates to and advances population health and/or health equity
  2. How the proposed work impacts communities or populations, both in the short- and long-term
  3. How the award relates to existing sources of funding for the work described
  4. How the funding will impact existing research or program work, including a description of the unique or additional contributions made possible from the award
  5. How the funding advances the research portfolio and career trajectory of the awardee
  6. How the funds will be used (1-3 sentences, no formal budget required)
PROPOSAL FORMAT AND REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Narrative that does not exceed 3 pages (PDF format, 11-point font and minimum margins of .5”)
  2. Abstract of no more than 150 words
  3. Applicant’s CV
  4. A brief statement from the applicant's mentor attesting to his or her support of the project and engagement in mentoring the applicant

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Proposals are due by December 17th, 2022, by 11:59 PM PST. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Scholars will be announced in early January 2023.
